Hylocichla mustelina

Whenever a man hears it he is young, and Nature is in her spring; wherever he hears it, it is a new world and a free country, and the gates of heaven are not shut against him”-Thoreau Could I, like Thoreau, possibly have seen a Wood Thrush in my back yard? It was a robin-sized [...]

Autotrephination

Since Joel first posted his thoughts on autotrephination on February 20, 2004, the Google search has gone from 1 result to 48 results. Wow…imagine starting a Googalaunch by ruminating about a single word on your blog?

New Herodias Login Page

Please check out my new Herodias front page mockup. The guest/guest login works, but the non-selected tabs don’t. It’s leaps and bounds better than the current login page. This CSS stuff is a piece of cake. Please leave any comments or suggestions about the page design. Thanks!

Emergency Medicine>>Toxicology>>Nerve Agents>>Sarin

A great post about Sarin gas and other nerve agents. Link via Grunt Doc. See, I still blog about medicine once in awhile.

Style Success

I’ve been reading various tutorials, tips and tricks about making style sheets do what you want, and there are a number of good sites out there to help you out. Tom and Jerry

There is a small cadre of web authors that interlink one another who have really pushed the frontiers of web page design. I have some of them linked [...]

A Mountain Too Far

I have just finished an amazing book by Karl Purnell, titled, A Mountain Too Far. It’s about his journey to find meaning in the climbing death of his son, Christopher, who was an acquaintance of mine at college. Although I never climbed with Chris, we had mutual climbing friends that made his death seem devastating [...]

Mouse Trapped

I heard a squeaking noise and looked to the kitchen where Jasper had a mouse dangling, feet first, out of her mouth. Louise wanted to know what was going on and doggedly followed Jasper everywhere she went, and Jasper growled in return. If it was already dead, it wouldn’t have bothered me so much, but [...]

In case you’re keeping score

I walked 5 blocks last night, AND I passed my Step 3, US Medical Liscensing Exam! No more (real) exams until I take my Emergency Medicine Board Exams after I finish residency. Oh, and one more in-service exam as well.
