Yes, but…

I had a lot of these patients tonight. I give them my medical opinion and get a …yes, but… not just once, but seemingly dozens of times. Mom, who is a former nurse, hears rales in her 3 year old child. I hear upper airway stridor consistant with croup, but perfectly clear lungs. Was she [...]

The Strong Women

Images of the strong women are spreading. Add yours. (Twenty Six Shifts)

Twenty Seven Shifts

Hmm…another not too interesting shift. Admitted one guy with urosepsis. Ruled out a pulmonary embolism. Ordered a study to evaluate for appendicitis in a 15 year old. Saw a mildly mentally retarded woman for vaginal bleeding who refused to let me examine her or get a urine test. Let her go with very detailed written [...]

twenty eight shifts!

A new version of the June schedule came out, relieving me of 3 of my scheduled shifts! That makes only twenty eight shifts to go.

Thirty One Shifts

This is so fun. Tonight was a slow night, believe it or not. DIdn’t do much interesting. Didn’t prescribe many meds, didn’t treat anyone’s pain, reduce any hernias. The most interesting thing was a woman with unexplained cholestasis. See, not very interesting at all. The fun part is one less shift to go.

Thirty Two shifts

Hee, hee, the countdown begins. Now I have something to smile about. And post about! I did do some cool stuff today, though. 1) Ordered fentanyl 50mcg and phenergan 12.5mg to a lady who promptly became blue. We bag mask ventilated her successfully and I ordered 2 mg of Narcan. After another 30 seconds of [...]

Thirty Three shifts

Yes, this is THE countdown! 33 shifts. Will keep you updated daily. After tomorrow, it will be 32 shifts, then 31 shifts, then…I have to wait a few more days to continue the countdown. How sweet it will be… Has anybody ever NOT finished their residency without feelings of bitterness towards the institution of medical [...]
